JAMMU, Mar 21: President of the All India Registered Nurses Federation (AIRNF) for Jammu and Kashmir, Vishav Sharma met with the Leader of Opposition (LoP), Sunil Sharma, to highlight the pressing demands of the nursing community in the region. The meeting focused on addressing long-standing issues affecting nurses and advocating for their welfare.
During the discussion, Vishav Sharma emphasized the urgent need for improved working conditions, finalization of recruitment and service rules for all non-gazetted staff, and an update of service rules for Government Medical Colleges (GMC) in Jammu and Srinagar. He also demanded better salary structures, an increase in nursing and dress allowances, and a change in nomenclature for nurses in accordance with guidelines from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Another key concern raised was the shortage of nursing staff in healthcare facilities across the Union Territory (UT). Sharma stressed the importance of timely promotions and career advancement opportunities to boost morale and ensure professional growth within the nursing community.
Sunil Sharma acknowledged the critical role of nurses in the healthcare system and expressed his support for their demands. He assured Vishav Sharma that the opposition would take up these issues with the relevant authorities to seek necessary interventions. He reiterated that the nursing profession deserves greater recognition, fair remuneration, and adequate resources to enhance the quality of healthcare services in J&K.
Both leaders recognized the urgency of addressing these demands. They underscored the importance of creating a positive and supportive work environment for nurses, which would, in turn, improve the overall healthcare system in the region.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to ensuring that the grievances of the nursing community in J&K are not only heard but also acted upon in a timely manner.
