JAMMU, Sept 6: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) 2nd Battalion successfully completed a six-day Basic Disaster Management Course at its headquarters in Jammu, designed for personnel of the 23rd Wing, Air Force Station.
As per a statement, a total of 32 Air warriors participated in the training, which began on September 1 and concluded today.
The course aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and response skills through a mix of classroom sessions and practical exercises.
Participants were trained in life-saving techniques, rescue methods, and emergency protocols necessary to act swiftly during crises.
The programme also highlighted the importance of coordination between different agencies to ensure effective disaster management.
The inaugural and valedictory ceremonies witnessed the presence of senior officers from both SDRF and the Air Force, including Zahid Manhas, Commandant SDRF Second Battalion, Group Captain JS Sudan and Ground Captain Ambresh Pandit.
Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion, Zahid Manhas, in his address, said that the growing frequency of disasters made such preparedness crucial.
He added that collaborative training initiatives not only build confidence but also strengthen joint response capabilities.
Deputy SP (Trainings) Dinesh Gupta, who coordinated the course, presented the vote of thanks.
The training underscored the strong partnership between SDRF and the Indian Air Force in building resilience against natural and man-made disasters.
Officials said the knowledge and skills gained by the Air warriors would enable them to respond more effectively in critical situations, thereby contributing to the safety of both forces and the community at large.
