JAMMU, Mar 2: The All India Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) has demanded digitization of immovable properties belonging to Kashmiri Pandits in all ten districts of the Kashmir Valley as per the position of 1989-90, before migration.
The demand was raised during an executive meeting held at Jagti Township under the chairmanship of BK Raina.
As per a statement, the organization expressed concern that displaced Kashmiri Pandits have been ignored in the ongoing process of digitization of land records in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chairman said the neglect of the community remains a serious challenge and stressed that it is the duty of both the organization and the community to seek a solution.
President of the organization, Desh Ratten Pandita, said the Government has directed the Revenue Department to digitize immovable properties of the general public by setting up camps in different villages.
However, he alleged that no such camps have been organized for displaced Kashmiri Pandits living outside the Valley, who are major landholders there.
He questioned how land records can be correctly digitized without the presence of the actual owners.
The speakers alleged that much of the land and property belonging to migrants has been encroached upon during the migration period and has not been properly protected.
They urged the Government, Revenue Department and Relief Organization to ensure proper involvement of displaced landholders in the process.
The organization also demanded that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) benefits be kept in abeyance for the community till their return to the Valley.
Several members, including PN Jalali, Bharat Bhushan Koul, Priya Dhar and others, also addressed the meeting and criticized the administration for not informing displaced families about the digitization drive.
