JAMMU, Dec 29: All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), during its Annual General Meeting (AGM), strongly urged the Central and State Governments to formulate a comprehensive and time-bound return and rehabilitation policy for Kashmiri Pandits.
The meeting also demanded the passage of a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to facilitate dignified return, ensure political empowerment of the community, and establish a dedicated Temples and Shrines Board for the protection and management of temples and shrines in the Kashmir Valley. During the AGM, the audited financial statement and a detailed report card of AIKS activities for the year 2025 were presented and deliberated upon by the members.
In its second session, the AGM witnessed extensive deliberations on the proposed community census, with members requesting the Central Government to declare KPs as a distinct community with reverse minority status. The session also focused on the urgent need for systematic listing of ancestral properties left behind in the Valley, supported by revenue records, and the formulation of short-term policy measures that the Government should initiate without delay.
Speaking on the occasion, AIKS president Ravinder Pandita stressed that the apex committee of KPs, which was disbanded in 2014, must be restored and reconstituted to ensure effective coordination between the Government and the community. He also informed that AIKS is actively working with the Central Government and the Delhi Government towards establishing a Kashmiri Academy and a dedicated museum in Delhi to preserve and promote the community’s rich cultural heritage.
The AGM concluded with a vote of thanks presented by general secretary Sunil Kaul. The occasion also marked the celebration of 45 years of AIKS since its inception. Affiliates from Jammu, Hyderabad, and Delhi-NCR participated in the day-long AGM.
