AIKPC terms shift in policy of package employees betrayal with community

JAMMU, Nov 5: The All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference (AIKPC) has expressed strong disappointment and concern over the recent decision of the Government to classify PM Package employees as temporary, a move that deprives them of the dignity, service benefits, and rights associated with permanent Government employees.
In an urgently convened meeting held under the chairmanship of its working president, Kuldeep Kashmiri, the AIKPC termed this shift in policy as deeply unjust, insensitive and a betrayal of the very spirit with which the Prime Minister’s Employment Package was conceived for displaced Kashmiri Pandits. It was recalled during the meeting that the Government had earlier issued Order No. 34-JK(DMRRR) of 2022 dated 22.06.2022,outlining the framework for seniority and career progression of PM Package employees. This was followed by an Addendum vide No. OMRRR-Adm/58/2022 dated 07.07.2022, confirming that the Finance Department had granted full concurrence to the provisions of the order.
Addressing the meeting Kashmiri said against this backdrop the present move to dilute the status of these employees and treat them as temporary is viewed as a complete U-turn and a breach of trust that has deeply pained the displaced community.
He said that the PM Package employees left behind security and stability to serve in Kashmir with a sense of duty and commitment towards national integration. He stated that they returned to the Valley with courage and emotional attachment to their motherland to contribute to nation building, healing of wounds, reconciliation and restoration of peace. He described the latest Government move as a fraud on the hopes, sacrifices and trust of innocent youth.
Comrade M L Raina assured the employees and their families that the community stands firmly with them. He urged the administration to withdraw this anti employee decision immediately and uphold the original commitments associated with the PM Package.
MK Raina general secretary of the organisation cautioned that if the Government fails to act promptly the community would not remain silent and would be compelled to take democratic and peaceful measures to oppose the injustice.
The meeting was attended by RavinderKoul, C.L. Pandita, Satish Koul, Veer Koul along with several senior community members and parents of employees.
AIKPC senior vice president, RajinderKelam sought the immediate intervention of Prime Minister and Home Minister in the matter.
