JAMMU, Nov 23: A second-year MBBS student of AIIMS Jammu died following a road accident at Ghou Manhasan area, falling under the jurisdiction of Border Police Post Sandwan here, officials said today.

They said the victim, Vikas Saini, aged 23, and his classmate Himanshu Saini – both residents of Jaipur and studying at AIIMS Jammu – were travelling on a motorcycle when it skidded off the road at Rathua area on the Ring Road late Saturday night.
“The crash left both students with injuries. They were rushed to Government Medical College Jammu for treatment, where Vikas succumbed to his injuries today, while Himanshu is stated to be stable,” officials added.
The body of the deceased student has been handed over to his family after completion of medico-legal formalities, officials said.
Meanwhile, police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
