AIIMS, SAKSHAM join hands for disability welfare initiatives

JAMMU, Sept 1: In a major step towards strengthening disability welfare in Jammu & Kashmir, Samdrushti Kshamta Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM J&K) held a meeting with the Director of AIIMS Jammu today.
The Director assured full support for a range of initiatives aimed at empowering persons with disabilities.
As part of the collaboration, AIIMS Jammu will, provide space for a Divyang Seva Kendra within the hospital to guide and assist differently-abled patients, facilitate employment opportunities for Divyang persons in suitable roles, support the free distribution of artificial limbs, hearing aids and assistive devices, extend cooperation in upcoming disability welfare activities with SAKSHAM J&K.
Speaking after the meeting, SAKSHAM J&K representatives said the partnership with AIIMS Jammu will create a model of inclusive healthcare in the Union Territory, ensuring that Divyang patients receive proper guidance, support and dignity at every stage of treatment.
The meeting was attended by Abhay Pargal (National Joint Secretary, SAKSHAM), Swami Vishwanathan (Uttar Shetra Sangathan Mantri), Dr B D Sharma (Patron, SAKSHAM J&K), along with Prem Paul Singh, O D Atri and Manoj Kumar.
