JAMMU, Nov 13: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jammu, in collaboration with the University of Michigan, USA, hosted two major international academic events recently, underscoring its growing global partnerships and focus on advancing education, research, and patient care.
The Institute organized a symposium on “Innovations in Lung Cancer Research and Precision Oncology” and a two-day conference on “Care of the Critically Injured”, both featuring distinguished faculty from leading global institutions.
The symposium was organized by the Department of Radiation Oncology. The event brought together oncologists, clinicians, and researchers to discuss cutting-edge developments in thoracic oncology and precision medicine.
Dr Nithya Ramnath, Professor of Internal Medicine, University of Michigan, spoke on evolving paradigms in lung cancer treatment and immunotherapy, while Dr Shruti Jolly, Professor and Associate Chair of Radiation Oncology, Michigan Medicine, highlighted innovations in radiation therapy and quality assurance through MROQC.
Dr Chandan Kumar Sinha, Associate Research Scientist, Michigan Center for Translational Pathology, discussed genomic profiling and its implications for personalized cancer trials. The event concluded with an engaging panel discussion on artificial intelligence in lung cancer research, focusing on AI applications in diagnosis, treatment planning, and potential institutional collaborations.
The two-day international conference on “Care of the Critically Injured” held from November 11-12, emphasized strengthening trauma and critical care systems. Key speakers included Dr Krishnan Raghavendran from University of Michigan; Dr Ajai Malhotra from University of Vermont and Dr Ross Blank from University of Michigan.
The sessions covered trauma system development, the role of trauma centers, and hands-on training in mechanical ventilation and ARDS management.
Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, emphasized that collaborations with premier global institutions like the University of Michigan are vital to enhancing clinical skills, research output, and global engagement at AIIMS Jammu.
