JAMMU, Sept 11: AICC secretary Neeraj Kundan today visited Chimney Chack village in Bishnah constituency to support families devastated by recent floods.
Demonstrating the Indian National Congress’s commitment to the marginalized, Kundan met affected households, heard their struggles, and distributed dry ration kits—containing food grains, pulses, oil, and hygiene essentials to their relief.
“These kits are a small step to ease their immediate hardships, but the Congress Party stands firmly with them,” Kundan assured the villagers, emphasizing solidarity in their time of need. He demanded urgent relief measures, including financial aid and infrastructure restoration, to address their plight. “The administration must deliver aid without delay. The people of Chimney Chack can not wait,” he urged.
Kundan also spotlighted serious flaws in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) implementation. “There’s a clear pick-and-choose approach in PMAY. The truly needy are overlooked while influential individuals unfairly benefit, undermining the scheme’s goal of housing for all,” he stated.
Kundan called for transparency and reforms to ensure deserving families are prioritized. “PMAY is crucial, but its benefits must reach the poorest without favoritism,” he added.
Local villagers, including Deepak Singh, Mohan Lal, Avinash, and other prominent community members, joined Kundan during the visit, praising his outreach. “Their presence shows the Congress cares for the forgotten. We need leaders who act,” said Deepak Singh.
The Congress party urges the administration to expedite relief efforts and address PMAY’s implementation gaps to ensure fairness and equity for all.
