JAMMU, Mar 18: The members of All India Backward Class Union (AIBCU) today rejected the 8% reservation granted by the Government to OBCs.
In this regard a meeting was held under the chairmanship of its president Abdul Majid Malik.
During the meeting, the matter of new reservation policy vide SO 176 of 2024 was discussed threadbare and concluded that promises made by the BJP Government since 2014 proved only the white lies and so given quota @8% to OBCs after adding 15 groups is rejected and this deceitful act of the Government is highly condemned.
Speakers termed the way of picking of population data by the Government in the absence of any caste based census , seems to be a miracle that Pahari ethenic group limiting to four districts is 10% and OBCs population throughout Jammu and Kashmir is only 8% against report of Mandal Commission which is 52%.
This data picked up was on the recommendations of 20 DCs vide SWD’s circular date 2nd of March which seeks bio data of 15 new groups on or before 4th of March, where as 2nd and 3rd of March were Secretariat holidays. So data so collected was a fraudulent in the absence of any caste based census.
The speakers termed the new reservation policy as only for the general category people. With the new reservation policy, now every category is a general category as in every category general category groups have been added.
OBCs should now shift their focus on the Lok Sabha elections for the best use of their valuable vote for their welfare, for their children and for their generations to come.
Keeping political parties aside, not even a single vote should go waste during Lok Sabha elections.
Among others who were present during the meeting included Ashiq Hussain Hajam, SC Verma, Jagdish Verma, Comrade Balkar Singh, Rajinder Sikka, KK Fotra, Shashi Verma, Prem Bhogal, Gurmeet Singh and Prof Kali Dass.
