JAMMU, Apr 8: In a first for agriculture education in India, a final year MSc Agriculture (Agronomy) student of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Kavita Faman has bagged a package of Rs 1 crore.
Monsanto, global leaders in agrochemicals and now part of the crop sciences division of the Bayer Group, has offered this package. Kavita has been offered the role of Production Manager at Monsanto Canada and will be joining the Manitoba office of the company in April, at a package of Rs 1 crore per annum. As a Production Manager, she’ll be involved with the planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes in the company.
The offer was made on basis of a preliminary test and an interview conducted by the Monsanto officials, both of which she aced. “Agriculture science is at the cusp of a technology-led disruption. From innovations in biotechnology to usage of data science, the field is embracing the latest technologies and Monsanto is at the forefront of it. I am extremely excited to join the company and will strive to absorb as much as I can over the next few years”, said Kavita.
“I am very thankful to my alma mater Lovely Professional University, that helped me prepare for this opportunity. The ability to apply things we learn in the class at the farms as well as the research focus of the program played a key part in making me industry ready”, added Kavita.
The varsity is proud that its student has managed a good job and package in agronomy. “Agriculture education has never figured in the list where students would get hefty packages as most remunerative packages would come from IT industry, electronics or consultancy. It is for the first time that a student from agriculture education has reached the seven-digit package even before walking out of the university,” said Aman Mittal, LPU Director.
