Agnishekhar conferred Sahitya Sangam Samman in Nepal

JAMMU, Sept 11: The contribution of eminent Hindi poet and writer Dr.Agnishekhar was internationally hailed by eminent Nepali litterateurs, artists and hosts of other public intellectuals of Nepal during a book release function in which he was conferred Sahitya Sangam Chitwan Samman.
The function organized by Sahitya Sangam Chitwan & Bharatpur Akademy Pragya Pratishthan, Narayan Garh a representative anthology of Nepali Version of Agnishekhar’s Poetry of Exile and Genocide entitled “Jawahar Tunnel’ was yesterday released by Indraprasth Regme , Vice-Chancellar of Bharatpur Akademi , Nepal. While appreciating the huge contribution of post 1990 exiled Kashmiri poets, writers and artists, Indraprasad Regme highlighted the soul stirring literature of eminent Indian Hindi poet, Agnishekhar as pioneering in so many ways. He complimented well known Nepali and Hindi poetess Usha Tiwari for brilliant translation of Agnishkhar’s poetry into Nepali and release of her latest Hindi poetry book ‘Mehfil’.
Speaking on the occasion eminent Nepali and Hindi writer ,translator, Uday Adhikari described the poetry of Bharatiya Hindi poet, Agnishekhar as eye opening account of less talked about Genocidal happenings of hapless Kashmiri Pandits who were pushed into forced exile. Poems compiled in Nepali translated Version of ‘Jawhar Tunnel’ could be safely called as Living Museum of untold human tragedy of complete extermination of exiled Kashmiri Pandits from their homeland. He, while substantiating his point referred to Dr.Khema Kaul’s widely acclaimed novel ‘Dardpur’ as aptly described trend setting literary master piece by none other than Dr.Ramesh Kuntal Megh, a doyen of contemporary Indian literary (Critisizim).
Uday Adhikari commended the Nepali translator of ‘Jawahar Tunnel’ and hoped it would, for sure, hit the stalls across Nepal.
Other prominent personalities who spoke on the exile poetry of Agnishekhar included Keshav Raj Amodi, Prem Rimal, Narayan Prasad Pokhriyal, Kedar Nath Khanal beside Well known singer, Sapna Rila Aryal and Sijan Kshetry sang the Gazals of Usha Tiwari and late in the evening a poetic symposium was organised in honour of poet Agnishekhar.
