JAMMU, July 2: The first Annual General Body Meeting of J&K Panchayati Raj and Rural Areas Welfare Society (PARAWS) was held under the chairmanship of D P Khajuria.
In the AGM election of new office bearers of the Governing Body of the Society was also held as per the provisions of by-laws and D P Khajuria was elected as president, M I Sadiq as senior vice president, R K Sharma and Gurmeet Kour as vice presidents, O P Gupta as general secretary, Sita Ram Sharma and Ashok Verma as organizing and Publicity Secretaries, Om Ji Vaid as treasurer and K B Magotra, R C Puri, B N Pandita, R K Koul, Din Dyal Sharma, Jagdish Sharma, S P Mengi, Mangat Ram Sharma, Manoj Kumar and Choudhary Roshan Lal were elected members of the governing body.
The aims and objectives of the society are to organize awareness camps and training programmes for the members of Panchayats and field functionaries of Rural Development Department and the civil society to apprise them about all the schemes and programmes pertaining to rural areas being implemented by the Central and State Governments for upliftment of villages and the villagers.
