Officials asked to maintain constant vigil

SRINAGAR, Nov 11: A day after a car bomb blast near Red Fort in New Delhi, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting here to review the security situation and operational preparedness in the region.

The meeting was held in the backdrop of the blast in the national capital and the recent recovery of explosives and arms from Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar Ghazwatul Hind terror module comprising doctors.
“Chaired a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar, earlier today,” LG Sinha wrote on X.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, Home Department, Chandrakar Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Special DGP S J M Gillani, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar and IGP Kashmir Zone V K Birdi.
Sinha directed the officials to maintain constant vigil and security and emphasised on seamless coordination Intelligence and security agencies in J&K. He stressed coordinated efforts against the anti-national elements who are hell bent on breaching peace in the region.
The LG directed for intensified vigil along the Line of Control (LoC), International Border and Intelligence based operations in the hinterland so that the terror networks are busted.
The LG was given a detailed briefing about the coordinated counter-terror operations launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Haryana and Uttar Pradesh Police which led to unearthing of a major terror network allegedly masterminded and operated by doctors working across the country.
During the operation, the security agencies recovered two pistols (Chinese Star and Beretta models), an AK-56 rifle, an AK Krinkov rifle, and approximately 2,900 kilograms of IED-making material, including explosives, chemicals, electronic circuits, remotes, and metal sheets.
In the meantime, police today launched extensive vehicle checking across the Valley. Checks were carried out on National Highways and other important arterial roads in Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Baramulla, Ganderbal and Shopian districts of the Valley.
Temporary checkpoints were established at strategic locations to monitor the movement of suspicious persons and vehicles, he said.
Several vehicles were seized for lack of valid documents during the checks, the spokesperson said.
