DODA, Apr 21: After being allegedly raped by a mini-bus conductor, a girl made abortive attempt to end her life by jumping into river Kalnai, here. However, the girl was rescued and the rapist has been arrested.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by a man hailing from Nagni area with Police Station Thathri stating that her minor daughter has been kidnapped.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 37/2021 under Sections 363 and 109 IPC was registered at Police Station Thathri and investigation taken up.
During investigation police raided many places but girl was not recovered.
The missing girl jumped in river Kalnai near Thathri and due to effort of policemen posted at Kalnai bridge and civilians, she was rescued. After giving some first aid, the girl was taken to Police Station Thathri.
During questioning, the girl revealed that after leaving her house she went to Kishtwar and spent one night at Kishtwar Hospital. When she was coming back from Kishtwar, conductor of a mini-bus identified as Mukesh Kumar, son of Banka Ram of Lawa, tehsil Sarthal, District Kishtwar took her to isolated place and raped her for whole night in her vehicle. The accused later escaped from the spot.
Acting swiftly over the statement of the girl, a team from Police Station Thathri led by SHO Javed Iqbal arrested the conductor of the mini-bus from Upper Thathri area. The vehicle has also been seized.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
