Adv Neeta Verma presents paper on Art 370, 35-A at Int’l law event in London

JAMMU, Oct 29: Supreme Court Advocate Neeta Verma recently participated in the International Council of Jurists event in London, organized by Dr Adish Aggarwala, the Council’s President.
Held at Buckingham Taj Hotel, the event was attended by prominent legal personalities, including former Chief Justice of India Dr KG Balakrishnan and Justice Talwant Singh, as well as diplomats, ministers, and Members of Parliament from across the globe.
As per a statement, Advocate Neeta Verma presented a paper on Articles 370 and 35-A, Jammu and Kashmir’s legal landscape, and human rights, underscoring the region’s unique legal challenges.
Her participation brought attention to Jammu and Kashmir’s socio-political issues on an international stage, encouraging discussion on human rights and equal justice for all Indian States.
As the State President of the Human Rights Mission in Jammu and Kashmir, Verma has been a strong advocate for legal rights and awareness in the region.
Her initiatives include free legal services and outreach programs promoting awareness on key legal topics.
Verma, also Director of the National Campaign Amongst Students National Citizens Council, has led educational sessions on child crime and substance abuse in Kashmir’s schools.
Known for her dedication to social justice, Verma has worked extensively on cases of domestic violence and family disputes, focusing on mediation outside the courtroom.
Her contributions to Jammu and Kashmir were honoured at the London event, where she engaged with journalists, including from BBC London, highlighting the efforts of the Army and local police.
Recognized as the first Indian woman to raise awareness on J&K’s unique legal rights, Verma has twice received the Law award for her service.
She expressed gratitude to the International Council of Jurists for the platform, which facilitated discussions on critical issues like global peace and terrorism.
