ADGP Alok Kumar reviews Civil Defence, SDRF preparedness

JAMMU, May 29: After assuming additional charge as Commandant General of Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, ADGP J&K Police, Alok Kumar visited Jammu and held a key meeting with officers of all three wings on May 28.
The meeting, held at his Jammu office, saw detailed discussions on disaster preparedness, awareness programmes, simulation exercises, and training modules.
Officers reviewed the current stock of Civil Defence tools and identified shortages. Instructions were issued to all stakeholders to stay fully prepared for any natural or man-made emergency.
Alok Kumar emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts involving NDRF, Civil Defence volunteers, Village Defence Guards, Home Guards, and Fire & Emergency Services.
Continuing his visit, the Commandant General today interacted with officers and jawans of SDRF Second Battalion. He also inspected a Guard of Honour presented at the Battalion Headquarters.
Later, he attended a farewell function for DySP Gurvinder Kour, who is set to retire on May 31 after serving 34 years in SDRF.
Acknowledging the contributions of retired officers, Alok Kumar called them veterans and suggested organising half-yearly conferences to keep them engaged in civil defence activities.
DIG CD, HG & SDRF/ Director CD & HG, Mohammed Arshad supervised the programmes.
He, along with other senior officers, stressed the need to increase volunteer participation to ensure a prompt and effective response during disasters.
Those present included DySPs Manzoor Hussain, Dinesh Gupta, Tajinder Kour, Naseem Akhter Choudhary, Dev Raj, and Ziaul-Haq, besides personnel from SDRF and Fire and Emergency Services.
