JAMMU, Dec 1: A three-day ‘Art of Living-Educators Development Programme’ was inaugurated here today by Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Higher Education Department, J&K UT & Director SCERT, at Bhartiya Yog Sansthan (BYS), Jammu.
The programme is being organised in collaboration with JKSCERT and DIET Jammu.
In his inaugural address, Shantmanu highlighted the growing need for incorporating wellness, emotional resilience and stress-management strategies into the professional development landscape for teachers.
He noted that educators today manage diverse learner needs and increased expectations, making it essential to nurture their inner balance and overall well-being.
Appreciating the collaborative efforts of SCERT J&K, DIET Jammu and BYS, he reiterated the commitment to build a mindful, motivated and future-ready teaching community.
Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu, emphasized the importance of integrating mindfulness, reflective practices and emotional regulation into teacher education, noting that the vision of NEP 2020 calls for educators who are not only academically proficient but also emotionally grounded and resilient.
The event was graced by Arunima Sinha, Senior Faculty of ‘The Art of Living’, Lifestyle Consultant, and Meditation Facilitator, who attended as the guest of honour and will serve as the lead resource person for the three-day training.
A total of 30 Teacher Educators-15 from DIET Jammu and 15 from SCERT Jammu Division-are participating in the intensive programme.
R.G Dogra, Principal DIET Jammu, presented the welcome address.
Distinguished dignitaries from BYS Jammu, including Satpal Sharma, president and Jia Lal Sharma, general secretary were present on the occasion.
Dr. Romesh Kumar, HOD DIET Jammu, Coordinator, presented an overview of the initiative and outlined its objectives.
The program was managed by Dr. Sanjeevani Sharma, Assistant Professor, Coordinator, SCERT; Yogesh Kumar, Associate Coordinator, SCERT and Dr. Romesh Kumar, HOD DIET Jammu.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sanjeevani Sharma, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, SCERT Jammu. The proceedings were anchored by Madhu Tandon, Senior Lecturer, DIET Jammu.
