JAMMU, June 13: The residents of Lane No 4, Adarsh Nagar Bantalab are facing acute shortage of drinking water for a pretty long time with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department failing to redress the problem despite the umpteen pleas made by the locals to the concerned authorities.
The residents in a handout issued through Dr R K Raina said they have given several reminders to Chief Engineer concerned regarding the water supply issue in the area. The residents said that they get water supply after three to four days and they have to depend on tanker supply which is not safe in prevailing situation when the COVID-19 has gripped the entire world.
They said that mostly the senior citizens reside in the locality as the youngsters are outside the UT in connection with their livelihood. Being senior citizens they are advised not to venture out and it is very difficult for the people to fetch the water either from tanker or outside. The residents said that they are totally helpless. Supplying water after a gap of three to four days does not meet the needs of the people who often face problems for the same. The residents said that water consumption has also increased due to increase in hygiene care.
The residents in an appeal to concerned CE and Advisor to Governor urged them to look into the problem and ensure the daily supply of water to the area.
