“Giving people respect and speaking to them with respect is what we have been taught. Anyone holding a constitutional post must adhere to that responsibility, because such people are an inspiration for society.”
He added that action against the MLA “must have been taken after the matter piled up,” noting that the authorities concerned were better placed to explain the circumstances.
Sharma was speaking on the sidelines of a workshop at the party headquarters in preparation for Sewa Pakhwada 2025-a fortnight-long public outreach and welfare initiative beginning September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.
Addressing the workshop, the BJP chief highlighted the importance of Sewa Pakhwada as a platform to connect directly with people through meaningful service.
“This campaign is not only a tribute to our beloved Prime Minister but also a reaffirmation of the BJP’s core philosophy of Seva, Sushasan aur Gareeb Kalyan,” he said, urging party workers to involve youth, women, and marginalized communities in the initiative.
The workshop was attended by BJP Vice President Dr. Shahnaz Ganie; General Secretaries Anwar Khan and Gopal Mahajan (Abhiyan Incharge); State Secretaries Mudasir Wani and Arif Raja; and other office-bearers including Adv. Sajid Yousuf Shah, Sajad Raina, Sartaj Majeed, and Bilal Parray.
District presidents from across the Kashmir Valley, district prabharis, and designated in-charges and co-in-charges of the Sewa Pakhwada campaign also participated.
Dr. Ganie underlined the role of women and youth in the campaign, saying their participation would inject “new energy” and strengthen grassroots connections. Khan described Sewa Pakhwada as a reflection of the BJP’s commitment to serve all sections of society, particularly the underprivileged.
Mahajan detailed that the programme would begin with a state-wide blood donation drive on September 17 and include health check-up camps, cleanliness drives, plantation drives, distribution of assistive devices, and awareness programmes.
Later, Sharma chaired a separate meeting with the party’s Cells, urging them to work with dedication for public welfare and to strengthen the party’s grassroots connect.
