Act against those intimidating community leaders: KPs to Govt

JAMMU, July 24: The representatives of various Kashmiri Pandit organisation, academics, professionals and socio political activists have expressed deep concern and unequivocal condemnation of the irresponsible and destabilizing activities carried out by a group of some individuals who are creating a grave confusion in the community.
In a statement issued to press they said in the past several months, this group has actively engaged in behaviour that threatens the peace, dignity and democratic fabric of the civil society. This includes threats, defamatory comments, intimidation and the targeted defamation of well known persons and senior citizens of the community, leaders and social activists.
They level baseless and illogical charges against them without evidence and justification to humiliate them and defame them in the community which no civilized society can ever tolerate, the statement said.
Throwing law of land to winds they not only malign the image of the community people but try to attack their residential houses and humiliate the family members as well as the neighbours in the locality.
The meeting said it is a matter of serious concern for entire KP community that this group gathered outside the residence of former Chief Secretary and ex MLC Vijay Bakaya who heads the Durga Nag Trust and used filthy language and shouted slogans against him to harass him and his family including women folk.
The meeting urged the Government to take strong action under law against the people responsible for this episode failing which the community will be constrained to launch agitation. The meeting which was chaired by Vijyay Bakaya and attended by over 50 prominent members of the community also extended full support to Rakesh Handoo and Sanjay Saraf in their present struggle in safeguarding KP shrines and temples.
The KP organisations including Panun Kashmir, PNBMT, AIMCCC, Buta Nagar Committee, Durga Nag Trust, Nand Kishore Sumbal Trust, Samajik Vikas Sansthan, Sharika Foundation, Jagti Committee, Jeshta Devi Prabandhak Committee, Apni Party, Abhinav Gupt Shaktiveers, Senior Citizens Forum etc.
