JAMMU, Apr 21: In a swift and effective operation, R S Pura Police arrested an accused involved in an attempt to murder case within hours of the incident being reported.
The incident took place on April 19, when Sham Lal, son of Hans Raj and resident of Ward Number 12, Purana Pind, R S Pura, sustained serious injuries after being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon.
As per the statement recorded by PSI Lahtsham Ul Haq at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) R S Pura, the victim Sham Lal was present at his Karyana shop located in Ward Number 12, Purana Pind, when at approximately 7:30 PM, the accused-identified as Deepak Kumar alias Ajay Kumar, son of Ganesh Lal, also a resident of Ward Number 12, Purana Pind-forcefully entered the shop.
The accused, who was in possession of a toka (a sharp-edged weapon), criminally trespassed into the premises with clear intent to assault and launched a violent attack on Sham Lal, causing him serious injuries.
Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, a case FIR Number 73/2025 under sections 333 and 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 4/25 of the Arms Act was registered at Police Station R S Pura.
Acting promptly, the police team from R S Pura managed to arrest the accused Deepak Kumar alias Ajay Kumar within a few hours of the incident. The weapon used in the assault-the toka-was also recovered from the accused.
