JAMMU, Feb 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl in the Bishnah area of Jammu district.
Police said the information about the incident was received today following which a case was registered under the relevant sections of the BNS and POCSO Act and investigation taken up.
Accordingly, they said special police teams were constituted and both technical and human intelligence inputs were used to trace the accused.
Continuous searches and coordinated operations were carried out in the area, leading to the arrest of the accused, identified as Arjun Lakhotra of Dinday Khurd, Bishnah, police said.
According to them, the minor girl has been safely recovered and provided necessary medical assistance and support as per legal protocol.
Meanwhile, police said, scientific evidence is being collected and all legal formalities are being completed.
Further investigation is underway, they said, adding that legal proceedings against the accused have also been initiated.
