JAMMU, Sept 25: A dead body of a man, who had fallen into Ranbir canal after he was hit by a bus, was recovered today after getting stopped the discharge of water in the canal.
According to a police spokesperson, the man identified as Harjinder Saha (40) son of Sehdev Saha, a resident of Bihar (at present Rajinder Nagar, Jammu) had fallen into Ranbir Canal late last evening when the bike he was riding on was hit by a speeding bus bearing registration number JK02BJ-3685 at Purkhoo near Army gate.
On getting information, concerned police reached the spot but the body of the deceased could not be located due to darkness. The body of the man could be retrieved today from the canal after the discharge of water was stopped in the canal.
The body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting postmortem it was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
A case in this regard has been registered at police station Domana and a manhunt launched to nab the accused bus driver, who fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle. The vehicles involved in the accident has been seized.
