According to the ACB, it received a written complaint from an individual who alleged that after being detained under preventive action under Section 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) on the orders of a First Class Executive Magistrate at the Tehsil Office Central, Shalteng, a clerk identified as Laiq Ahmad Nath demanded illegal gratification for erasing the detention record.
“The accused clerk, deputed at the Tehsil Office Central, Shalteng, demanded Rs 2,000 as bribe for removing the complainant’s detention record from the official registers,” the bureau said.

The ACB said that upon receipt of the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted, which confirmed the demand for bribe.
Subsequently, an FIR bearing No. 01/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar, and investigation was taken up.

“After completing all necessary medico-legal formalities, the accused public servant was taken into custody. Further investigation in the case is underway,” the ACB added.
