15JAMMU, June 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a chargesheet in a corruption case involving officers of the Town Drainage Division Jammu and a contractor, for misappropriation of Government funds during the execution of drainage works in Doda district.
An ACB official said the challan was presented in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Doda in case FIR number 03/2019 under relevant sections of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and RPC against accused Subash Chander, the then Assistant Executive Engineer; Kuldeep Kumar Koul, the then Junior Engineer; and contractor Mansoor Ahmed of Thathri, Doda.
According to him, the case was initiated after a Joint Surprise Check (JSC) revealed that the officials, in collusion with the contractor, executed poor-quality and substandard drainage work at Kutan Nallah, Thathri during 2017-18.
The investigation found that the accused used substandard materials and deliberately ignored specifications for personal gains, he said.
He further said that reports from ACB’s Engineering Wing and IIT Jammu confirmed the use of inferior materials, resulting in a loss of Rs 9.95 lakh to the Government exchequer.
“The ACB has gathered both documentary and oral evidence establishing the role of the accused in the scam,” he said.
