SRINAGAR, Sept 3: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today filed a charge-sheet in a bribery case against a former Patwari in the Court of Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar.
An ACB official said that the case was registered in June 2023 after a complaint alleged that the accused, Abdul Rashid Mir, then Halqa Patwari Arigam, Budgam, had demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 for providing a report regarding a fire incident that damaged the complainant’s house.
He said a trap was laid, and Mir was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 1,500.
“The bribe money was recovered on the spot, and chemical tests confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein on the hands of the accused,” he said.
The ACB official said after completing the investigation and obtaining sanction for prosecution from the Government, the ACB presented the charge-sheet against the accused under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The court has fixed October 20, 2025, as the next date of hearing, he added.
