ACB books officers of Custodian, Revenue Deptts, others

JAMMU, May 21: Anticorruption Bureau Srinagar has registered a case against officers of the Custodian and Revenue Departments and the beneficiaries.
According to the ACB, a preliminary enquiry was conducted into allegations that one Dil Rafiqa, wife of Abdul Majid Sofi was conferred undue benefit by the Custodian Department by illegal allotment of Evacuee Land without obtaining Government sanction and without having open auction in violation to the standing provisions.
During the enquiry, it was found that evacuees land belonging to Imam-ud-Din located at Saderbal Hazratbal falling under Survey Number 640 has been allotted in favour of some individuals including Dil Rafiqa in gross violation to rules and regulations governing the subject.
Moreover, land belonging to Imam-ud-Din has also been encroached upon by Majid Khalil Ahmad Drabu, son of Saif-Ud-Din Ahmad Drabu of Qammerwari, Mohd Amin Khan, son of Gh Nabi Khan of Saderbal, Ab Majeed Bhat, son of Mohd Abdullah Bhat of Saderbal, Qazi Bilal Ahmad, son of Qazi Noor Din of Nageen and Umer Farooq, son of Mohammad Farooq of Nageen.
The officers of Custodian Department in league with the officials of Revenue Department and beneficiary allottees dishonestly and fraudulently by resorting to corrupt practices made allotments of evacuee land in violation of the prevailing rules & norms.
These omissions and commissions on the part of officers of the Custodian Department, Revenue Department, the beneficiaries and others constitute offences punishable under Section 5(1) (d) read with Section 5(2) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B RPC. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 10/2024 has been registered.
