KATHUA, Dec 28: 61st State Conference of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Kashmir is being held at Kathua with great enthusiasm and student participation.
The inaugural ceremony marked the beginning of a significant ideological and organizational gathering of students from across the Union Territory, reflecting the vibrant democratic spirit of campus life in Jammu & Kashmir.
On that occasion, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and presently Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur was present as chief guest along with National Joint Organising Secretary of ABVP, S Balakrishna as guest of honour and various social thinkers.
While addressing the gathering, S Balakrishna highlighted the historical role of ABVP in safeguarding national unity, promoting value-based education and empowering youth to shoulder responsibilities towards society and the nation.
While addressing the conference, Jai Ram Thakur emphasized that the students of Jammu & Kashmir have always played a decisive role in strengthening the nation despite challenging circumstances. The need to remain vigilant against anti-national activities, narco-terrorism and emerging security threats was underlined, along with the importance of student awareness and constructive engagement.
The speaker also stressed upon educational reforms, academic excellence, innovation and employment-oriented education as key pillars for the future of the region.
The inaugural ceremony set the tone for detailed deliberations to be held during the State Conference on issues related to national security, border area concerns, student welfare, educational development, and youth participation in nation-building.
Others who were present on the stage during the inaugural ceremony, included State President Dr Ajay Kumar Sharma, State Secretary Sannak Shrivats, Welcome Committee President Nisha Sharma and Secretary Rahul Dev.
