RAMBAN, June 20: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists here today staged a protest demonstration at GDC Ramban against Jammu University.
Students from various colleges in the district joined the protest against a notification issued by the Jammu University.
The notification made it mandatory for the students to pass 2nd semester completely, have half credits in 3rd semester and pass the internal assessment in 4th semester to be eligible for admission in 5th semester.
The notification shocked the students as it was estimated that only 50 per cent of the total students in the region will be able to secure admission in 5th semester under this notification.
ABVP District Girls Incharge, Payal Rakhwal said that Jammu University issued notifications without thinking.
She also stated that there are dozens of colleges in the region with vacant posts of professors and lack of laboratories equipments which is extremely concerning.
State joint secretary ABVP, Akriti Chib said that they are currently staging a peaceful protest but ABVP will call for a State level movement and will take to streets if the notification is not withdrawn.
