KISHTWAR, July 23: To highlight the critical issues plaguing the education sector in the region, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Kishtwar unit today organized a press conference here today.
The conference was addressed by Sanak Shrivats, state secretary of ABVP Jammu and Kashmir, who raised serious concerns and urged the authorities to take swift action to ensure the betterment of the student community.
Addressing the media, Shrivats said, “We warn the authorities to take immediate action to address the pressing issues in the education sector. These include the appointment of a permanent principal in GDC Padder, resolution of hostel-related issues in colleges and the introduction of additional streams in ANM schools.”
He further emphasized the need for the inclusion of Economics and Geography subjects in girls’ schools, establishment of institutions for specially-abled students and installation of sanitary pad vending machines in educational institutions.
ABVP also demanded the introduction of new subjects at university campuses, improvement of infrastructure in schools and colleges and resolution of the long-pending Hindi subject issue in the Chatroo and Mughal Maidan areas.
Another key demand was the establishment of district-wise CUET examination centers to replace the current system of assigning out-of-state centers, which causes inconvenience and additional costs for students.
“We also urge the authorities to ensure proper washroom facilities in all schools and colleges. The demands we’ve raised are crucial for building a stronger and more accessible education system. If these issues are not addressed promptly, we will not hesitate to launch a phased protest movement to safeguard the rights of students,” Shrivats warned.
Radhika Aryan (State Joint Secretary), Vinay Aryan (District Convener, Kishtwar) and Vasu Sharma (City Secretary, Kishtwar) were also present during the conference.
