JAMMU, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jhajjar Kotli area today claimed they have traced an absconder who was wanted for his involvement in a crime since 1996.
Manzoor Ahmed of Khadwani, Kulgam, was wanted in connection with a criminal case registered under FIR number 34/1996 under sections 366, 376, and 363 of the RPC at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli but he was constantly evading the arrest, a police official said.
He said a warrant under section 512 of the CrPC had also been issued against the accused, who had remained untraced for nearly three decades.
Acting on sustained efforts and coordination, he was identified as lodged in Kulgam jail by a team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO concerned, Inspector Vikas Dogra, with the assistance of Police Station Qaimoh, he said.
Following confirmation, the lodgement certificate along with the warrant was produced before the concerned court in Jammu for further legal action, the police official added.
