JAMMU, Nov 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Gharota area today claimed to have arrested an individual who was evading his arrest for the last 19 years.
Abdul Rashid of Zeban Matipora, District Kulgam, was wanted for his involvement in a case FIR number 172/1994 registered under sections 353, 336, 337, 147, 148, 120-B, 324, 307, 511, 332 of the RPC at Police Station Gharota but he absconded in the year 2006 to evade the law, a police official said.
According to him, an arrest warrant under the relevant sections of the law was also issued against him by a competent court.
The warrant got executed today with the arrest of the accused by a team of Police Station Gharota, the police official said, adding that he was later remanded to judicial custody at Amphalla District Jail.
