JAMMU, Sept 16: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Pacca Danga area today claimed they have arrested a fugitive who was on run for the past 33 years.
Prem Paul of Rakh Gagwala, Samba, was arrested in case FIR number 491/1991 under sections 452, 453, and 147 RPC, but was on run for the last 33 years, a police official said.
He said the accused was declared a proclaimed offender after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him by the Forest Court on February 1, 1992.
Despite his decades’ long attempt to evade justice, the accused was finally arrested today by a team of Police Station Pacca Danga led by SHO concerned, the police official said.
According to him, the accused has been taken into custody after completing legal formalities and further proceedings under law have been initiated.
