Absconder held after nearly four decades

JAMMU, Mar 17: Police today claimed to have arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for nearly four decades in a case registered at Police Station Nowabad.
A police official said the accused, Sham Lal of Baran Masjid Mohalla, Tehsil Bhalwal, was wanted in case FIR number 127/1985 under sections 279/427 RPC but he had been evading his arrest since the registration of the case.
He said acting on specific inputs, a dedicated team of Police Station Nowabad recently traced the whereabouts of the accused and subsequently took him into the custody.
He was accordingly produced before the court of Sub Judge JMIC Jammu for further legal proceedings, the police official said.
Pertinently, the arrest was made by PSI Arjun Choudhary under the supervision of Inspector Vikas Hans, SHO Nowabad, DySP Headquarters Jammu and the overall supervision of SP City North.
