RAMBAN, Apr 1: Police here today achieved a major breakthrough by arresting a man who was evading law enforcement for nearly eight years.
According to official sources, the accused, Farooq Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz, was apprehended from Gujjar Basti, Talab Tillo in Jammu by cops led by an Assistant Sub-Inspector.
He was wanted in connection with FIR No. 112/2018 registered at Police Station Ramban under relevant legal provisions. A warrant for his arrest was earlier issued by the Additional Sessions Court Ramban and he was absconding since 2018.
Meanwhile, in a related development, another absconder, Shabir Ahmed, son of Bagh Hussain and a resident of Chamalvas in Banihal, was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) through virtual mode.
He is currently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, under PSA in connection with a separate case registered at Police Station Ramban in 2023.
