JAMMU, Sept 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Akhnoor area today claimed they have arrested an individual, who was evading his arrest in a criminal case registered in the year 2024.
Rakesh Kumar alias Raman Kumar of Mawa Brahmana, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu, was wanted in case FIR number 87/2024 under Sections 354, 341, 382, 376, and 511 IPC registered at Police Station Akhnoor, a police official said.
He said a warrant under sections 512 CrPC had been issued against Kumar as he had been on the run since the registration of the case.
Despite repeated efforts, he managed to evade arrest, prompting police to intensify their efforts to track him down, the police official said.
Acting on a specific tip-off, a team from Police Station Akhnoor today launched a swift operation and succeeded in apprehending the accused, he said.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the court of law and on the directions of the court, he has been accordingly lodged in District Jail Amphalla, added the police official.
