Abrogation of Art 370 will pave way for rehabilitation of Pandits: KPC

JAMMU, Aug 22: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) in a meeting today at New Delhi has said that the recent decision of abrogation of article 370 by Narendra Modi Government at the Center has paved a way for Union Government to directly redress the problems and to meet with the aspirations of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, besides taking cognizance of their important demand like carving out a separate “Kashyap Bhoomi” for them, within Valley.
KPC said this is the time to utilize their services in proper direction in nation building, its prosperity and it’s integrity. This will help to restore the confidence and faith of Kashmiri Pandit community on the system of governance which, has been shattered due to vote bank politics and appeasement policy of the successive governments.
Kundan Kashmiri, president KPC stated that this is an appropriate time to appoint a Fact Finding Committee exclusively for internally displaced Kashmiri Pandits to know their pain, problems and demands to mitigate, after meeting these sufferers languished at various locations in the country for last 30 years .
He said that an Independent Commission of Inquiry is also need of the hour to probe in to forced exodus, ethnic cleansings and human right violations of Kashmiri Pandit community along with detailed Action Taken Report (ATR) in respect of those Kashmiri Pandits who were killed since 1989-90 onward in the State. President, KPC has further demanded that the distress sale of the property of displaced KPs be declared null and void and community members be given its possession.
It further demanded rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandit overage youths by providing them considerable financial help for their settlement .Also much delayed demand of Kashmiri Pandits to bring a law for KP Shrines and Temples. The Kashmiri Pandit youth who were appointed under PM package and posted in Kashmir Valley be also posted in safer zones of Jammu region.
This meeting also demanded enhancement of monetary relief to displaced Pandits and appointment of displaced KP youth in Central Govt. Department / undertakings and community traders and shopkeepers be allotted shops at railways stations form Jammu to Srinagar.
