JAMMU, Dec 13: Aam Aadmi Party’s state spokesperson Pratap Jamwal on Tuesday demanded a probe into delay in completion of Jammu artificial lake project raising serious concern on missing of six deadlines and rapid cost escalation even after which this prestigious project is nowhere on ground.
In a press statement, Pratap Jamwal said that Jammu artificial lake and allied project is a prestigious project that was started more than a decade ago and BJP time and again took credit for expediting work on the project which however is yet to complete.
“If you go through the details of the project, than it will come to fore that deadline of the project has been missed for six times which is a unique failure of successive Governments and BJP in itself,” Pratap said.
The project, which was launched in 2009 by the Congress-NC Government, has been marred by delays, missing many deadlines, before work came to a standstill in 2018, he stated.
The State Government has spent more than Rs 58 crore on the project in the past decade, after its foundation stone was laid by the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on December 5, 2009 and after missing the first target date, the contractor missed deadlines in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 when the work stopped, he further mentioned.
Pratap hit hard at BJP on the issue, AAP leaders said that BJP failed to get the project completed even after the party was having Government in Jammu and Kashmir State as well as in Centre and this shows that the slogans and statements of BJP leaders are merely based on theoretical system with no practicality.
Raising concern on prolong delay in completion of the project, Jamwal demanded a probe into the matter to fix responsibilities on execution agency and contractor for delay in completion of project.
Jamwal further alleged that Jammu and Kashmir LG administration believes in fake publicity and hoardings are placed everywhere but works are nowhere on ground and sad state of affairs can be gauged from the fact that thousands of Government employees are on roads because of no redressal of their grievances.
