JAMMU, Aug 18: Condemning the recent incident in which a 9 years old minor boy was beaten to death after he drank water from the utensil meant for Principal of upper caste, Aam Aadmi Party called for exemplary punishment against the accused stating that casteism is the biggest evil in the country.
Over the issue, Advocate Gauran Sarangal addressed a press conference in which Aam Aadmi Party condemned the incident terming it as an ‘unfortunate’ one for entire country and an incident which is not less than a dark mark on country’s development.
He said, ” This incident is unfortunate one for entire country as well as for every Indian and shows that a very few people in the country are still moving around the evil of casteism which is indeed the biggest evil for country.”
He said that, ” Casteism not only divides the society thereby weakening the nation but it also create a sense of hatredness among the people which is not less than a threat of terrorism.”
Over the incident of Rajasthan where a nine years old boy from Scheduled Caste community was beaten to death only for his fault that he drank water from the utensil which was meant for use of school principal belonging to upper caste.
He said that there are a number of laws in Indian constitution which are exclusively meant for safeguarding the rights of people from schedule caste community but the need of hour is to ensure that all these large are properly implemented and all such atrocities are stopped.
He further stated that not even a single political leader or political party in the country, even including the Government of India and Government of Rajasthan bothered to issue a statement in condemnation of this incident which has hurt the sentiments of not only people from scheduled caste communities but of every Indian.
He further asked the Government of Rajasthan to ensure that proper legal procedure is followed in this case and an exemplary punishment is given to the accused in order to set a trademark in the society.
