VARANSI, Feb 12 : Kumari Swarna Nigam, a Class 10 student of Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya, located in Tulsipur Mahmoorganj, Kashi, the city of religion and Mahadev, has set a new record in the field of art and spirituality. Kumari Swarna has achieved a historic feat by creating unique paintings of 5,555 different Oms (Omkar). Her unique artistic practice has been officially registered in the Eurasia World Records. This achievement is a matter of pride not only for the college, but for entire Kashi and the country.
A grand exhibition and release ceremony was held on Thursday at the Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya campus. Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, was present as the chief guest at the event, held amidst Vedic chanting and a solemn atmosphere. Special guests included Shiv Sharan Pathak, coordinator of the Varanasi Parliamentary Office, Santosh Singh, national president of the Vishwa Vedic Trust, senior environmentalist Anil Kumar Singh, and other dignitaries.
Swarna Nigam, a Class 10 student from Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, said, “One year of rigorous spiritual practice concluded before Mahashivratri. At times, I felt I wouldn’t be able to complete it, but a different energy constantly supported me. The strength I gained from studying Vedas and Sanskrit, combined with the power of ‘Om’, will propel me forward throughout my life. I want the importance of ‘Om’ in Sanatan Dharma and culture to reach every person.”
Dr. Jagdish Pillai, who has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records five times in different fields, said he met Swarna about a year and a half ago. She had a strong desire to do something different for Sanatan Dharma and culture. I suggested that she start writing “Om” in different colors on a three-and-a-half to two-inch piece of card, ensuring that none of the “Om”s resembled each other. After a year of hard work, Swarana Nigam created 5,555 “Om”s. All of these paintings are completely different from one another.
The most striking feature of these 5,555 “Om” paintings is that each one is completely different in size, color combination, line arrangement, and expression. This work vividly presents the artist’s spiritual consciousness and the universal energy of “Om,” the fundamental element of the Sanatan tradition. Chief guest Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, while blessing the student, said, “Setting a world record by creating 5,555 different “Om” artworks is an extremely rare and unimaginable feat. This is an auspicious and sacred moment for Kashi.” He heartily congratulated Kumari Swarana.
College teacher Nandita Shastri said, “The Gurukul system of education places special emphasis on art and creativity, along with the study of Sanskrit and the Vedas. Kumari Swarna’s achievement is a powerful example of culture-based modern education.” Guests and visitors to the exhibition praised the student’s artistic pursuits and called it an inspiration for other students. This achievement proves that the daughters of Kashi are preserving their cultural heritage and bringing glory to India on the global stage.
