JAMMU, Oct 15: Commandant General Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, Jammu and Kashmir, A G Mir, today reviewed the operational preparedness of the SDRF 2nd Battalion during his visit to the unit headquarters in Jammu. He was accompanied by DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu, Mohammad Arshad.
During the visit, Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu, Zahid Naseem Manhas, gave a detailed presentation on the unit’s role in recent rescue and relief operations carried out in Jammu province, including Kishtwar, Ramban, Katra, Kathua, Poonch and Rajouri.
He also highlighted issues affecting operational efficiency, such as shortage of high-value equipment, inadequate transport facilities, and manpower constraints.
The Commandant General appreciated the dedication and swift response of SDRF personnel in handling disaster situations, which helped save many lives.
He assured that the concerns raised would be taken up with higher authorities for redressal.
A display of rescue equipment and tools was also organised, showcasing the capabilities and achievements of SDRF Jammu.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment from the top brass towards enhancing the efficiency and welfare of SDRF personnel.
Senior officers, including DSPs Manzoor Hussain, Dinesh Gupta, Tajinder Kour, Naseem Akhter, Satvir Singh, Maroof Badhana, Barkat Hussain Qureshi, Masoof Mirza, and Dev Raj, were present on the occasion.
