JAMMU, Apr 15: Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar today held a detailed interaction with representatives of various passenger vehicle unions for seeking their cooperation in maintaining road discipline.
The interaction was attended by representative of Jammu Province Mini Buses Union, 2×2 Buses Union, Chamb /Banihal Group Buses Union, Taxi Union, Jammu District Auto Driver Union, R S Pura -Kathua -Katra route Buses Union and J&K Transport Association Welfare Union.
DIG Jammu Shakeel Beigh was also present on the occasion.
During interaction, the IGP called upon the union leaders to contribute their bit in educating drivers and conductors to maintain road discipline and abide by the traffic rules so that the ever increasing road accidents are checked and precious human lives are saved. He informed that most of the road accidents occur due to over loading, over speeding, rash and negligent driving etc. Therefore, the Union leaders have an important role to play to educate the driver community to abide by the traffic rules and maintain road discipline, he added.
Union leaders assured IGP Jammu that they would do their best to educate the driver community and cooperate with law enforcing agencies in implementing the traffic rules. During interaction, Anil Chopra, Chariman Jammu Province Mini Buses, informed that mini buses exclusively for females are being launched from May 1, in some areas of Jammu city.
The prominent among the participants included Vijay Sharma, Sardar Mohinder Singh Bharat Bushan Sharma, Shanti Saroop, Davinder Choudhary, Jatinder Khajuria, Vijay Singh Chib and K D Singh.
