SRINAGAR, June 18: BJP Kashmir Unit today urged Lieutenant Governor Administration and Director Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu and Kashmir to investigate all major contracts in Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) from the past two years as public money was being looted on the name of development.
Party’s Kashmir Media In-charge and senior leader, Manzoor Bhat, in a statement, said that several scams have surfaced in SMC, which need to be investigated as public money has been openly misused for fake development slogans.
He also alleged that sub-standard sanitize material including chemicals and other-equipment were used during the Covid-19 pandemic in the city and majority of the contracts in SMC were being provided to blue-eyed persons that needs to be probed through independent investigation.
Bhat alleged that in issuing building permissions, basic principles were violated. “Hundreds of buildings, including hotels, restaurants and other structures have been constructed haphazardly in Srinagar in which crores of rupees were exchanged as bribe,” he said and added that permissions granted by SMC from the past two years need to re-verified and investigated.
