RAJOURI, June 8: The police foiled bovine smuggling bid and rescued 10 cattle from the clutches of smuggler in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district during last night.
SSP Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said that police team headed by Station House Officer Thanamandi Fareed Ahmed under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Thanamandi, Sajjad Khan during patrolling at Dodasan Bala intercepted one Liyaqit Hussain, son of Mohammad Bashir, resident of Bhattian in Thanamandi. He was found smuggling 10 bovine animals which were rescued. The accused was arrested on the spot and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered against him at Thanamandi.
Meanwhile, during Naka at Dronigalla in Lam area last night, the police intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle No. JK11C/0595 and rescued three bovine animals beign smuggled towards Mughal Road. The vehicle driver Gulbahar Choudhary was arrested by police and a case registerd against him.
