REASI, Apr 8: Residents of remote Malikote area of tehsil Mahore have been deprived of electricity even after 65 years of independence of the country.
A population of over ten thousand souls have yet to see the `light’ as the PDD authorities have failed to provide electricity facility to hapless people of lesser God. Village Sarpanch disclosed that funds to the time of Rs 137.50 lakh were said to be sanctioned for the electrification in the area two years back but nothing was visible on the ground. He said till today no DC, SDM or even Tehsildar has visited the area. He said despite assurances of the political leaders of the area, nothing was done to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
Executive Engineer, PDD Reasi, Mr Rathore when contacted said that he has recently taken over the charge after new posting and will look into the matter. He said that necessary instructions will be issued to the concerned Assistant Executive Engineer.
