This has reference to the news item’ People of Ladakh deserve focused attention’ DE April 5.
Keeping in view the topography and geographical features of the Ladakh division, it is quite imperative that it gets a focussed attention for its over all development in the future.
Ladakh has not witnessed much development since India achieved independence. Take any sector-industry, education or agriculture. No sector has achieved much progress due to Government’s apathetic attitude and lack of vision.
Education sector is still in a shambles, particularly, the higher education in this part of the State. The people have to send their children to far-off places like Chandigarh, Jammu, Dehradun, Delhi etc. This exercise involves lot of expenditure which all parents can’t afford. Result ?
The students leave their studies halfway in search of low paid jobs.
Now, the Government has opened a university campus here. It will play an important role in shaping the destiny of students here. However, much more needs to be done to revamp the educational sector here to cope up with the coming challenges.
Likewise, industry, and agriculture too should received great thrust to change the complexion of society.
