JAMMU, Apr 26: The residents of Sharika Vihar and Lower Roop Nagar are facing acute shortage of drinking water for last few weeks.
The residents of the two localities said that the water crisis coupled with lockdown has compounded their problems as they can’t move outside their houses to fetch the water. Moreover, in view of lockdown the private tankers are also not allowed to ply so the people are facing hardships. They said despite protest and bringing the issue in the notice of officers concerned no steps were taken to restore the water supply in the two localities. They said that in other areas there is proper water supply while these two localities have been totally facing water scarcity.
The people warned to come to streets despite lockdown in case the problem was not solved. The residents of two localities have made a joint appeal to Chief Engineer PHE, to look into the problem failing which they will be forced to launch agitational path.
