Ban on spitting in public places in Leh

Leh, Apr 24: Chairman District Disaster Management Authority/ District Magistrate Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya today issued an order regarding complete ban on spitting in public places.
The order reads that in exercise of power conferred under Section-34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 as well as in continuation to a previous order; it is hereby ordered for- complete ban on spitting in public places.
In case of violation, fines prescribed in exercise of power under Section-51B of Disaster Management Act, 2005 will be imposed. Non-wearing of face cover in public places and work places will invite a penalty of Rs. 500 and spitting in public places would also invite a penalty of Rs. 500.
All SDMs/Executive Magistrates and Police Personnel shall ensure the compliance of the order.
