Snow clearance work in progress

DODA, Apr 21: Snow clearance work is on progress on Bhaderwah-Chhattergalla-Bani road for the last one week and the road is likely to be restored by April 30.
Official sources from Bhaderwah said that 114 RCC of the Project Beacon under Border Roads Organisation (BRO/GREF) authorities have launched work from Bhaderwah and Bani side and it is expected that the Bani-Bhaderwah road is likely to be cleared by the end of this month, if weather remained favourable.
Entire team of 114 RCC led by Parmod Kumar (IES), under the supervision of Col Neeraj Karki of 35 Border Road Task Force (BRTF), is working round the clock, following instructions from the top to open this snow clad road at the earliest. At Chattergalla Pass, there is nearly 3-4 feet snow at present.
Officer Commanding, Parmod Kumar told the Excelsior that despite of all hurdles, heavy snowfall, sub zero temperature and adverse climatic conditions, adequare measures have been taken to maintain the connectivity from Bani to Bhaderwah for the safe convenience of the public.
He said about 30 km road stretch has been cleared during the past over one week and the road is likely to be thrown open to traffic by April 30, if the weather remained fair. He said the work is more tough at the high altitude area on both the sides of Chhatergalla pass but the trained men and machinery of the BRTF, were working hard for the road clearance work the, the OC maintained.
BRO officer further said that amidst snow clearance operation, the regular work on bridges and permanent road structures was in progress.
